Lakshagriha: The hearing of the Lakshgriha case was going on in the court for 53 years. The court has given rights over 100 bighas of land of Lakshagriha to the Hindu side. The Muslim side was claiming to have a tomb and a graveyard here. According to the claim of the Hindu side, it is Lakshagriha of Mahabharata period. On Monday 5 February 2024, the court gave its verdict in favor of Hindus regarding the Lakshagriha mound. Let us know about the classical proof of Lakshagriha-
According to Mahabharata Adi Parva 143.9–15, Duryodhana once called his trusted assistant Purochana to Hastinapur and planned to set fire to Varanavrat. Duryodhana said to Purochana, “You should prepare a building near Varanavrat which has rooms all around and which is safe from all sides. That building should be made as beautiful as possible by spending a lot of money. Rope and resin (chemical) etc. Whatever incendiary substances are there in the world, get them all applied on the walls of that house. Mix ghee, oil and a lot of lye in clay and get the walls plastered with it.
Store all the things like flax, oil, ghee, lac and wood etc. around that house. Even after taking good care, the Pandavas and other people should not suspect that this house is made of incendiary materials, hence get that palace constructed with utmost care. In this way, when the Pandavas come here after the palace is built, then give them respect and hospitality along with their friends and family. Make a divine seat, ride and bed for the Pandavas there.
Therefore, you should try to reach there today itself by sitting on a fast moving chariot harnessed by a mule. Go there and get a building constructed near the city which has rooms all around and which is safe from all sides. Make such arrangements that my father will be satisfied. Until the desired work is accomplished with the passage of time, everything should be done in such a way that the people of Varanavrat city cannot know anything about it.”
It is clear from this that there was a building there which was filled with water. Many people believe that a small building was built there after it was burnt, if you see the picture you will understand for yourself that it was the same Lakshagriha building.
